The surroundings in winter
Czech Republic attracts many keen skiers and cross country skiers in the mountains. The varied and picturesque nature shines with ski resorts, which radiate a cozy atmosphere, as rarely found in other high-tech ski resorts.
In Desna, there are two ski resorts, one of which is only 800m away from the house. Cerna Rícka is very suitable for beginners and advanced. Here you can usually run ski from December to April. The tracks are well maintained and, if needed, covered with artificial snow.
The two ski lifts bring to one of the four runs, with a total length of 1.8 kilometers, from 480 to 780 m. One of the departures is illuminated at night. A 5-day ski pass costs about € 60, - (2007/2008).
There are cracks in the mini snowpark for snowboarders. There is a cross-country track of 3 km. Additional Services: Ski and snowboard school (for children), ski rental and maintenance, parking at the elevator.
The second center, the Parlament is a bit further down and provides excellent downhill skiing opportunities for beginners and advanced. There are 3 ski lifts and 4 slopes, from 208 to 750 m, with a total length of 2.5 kilometers. There is a separate elevator and a descent of 120 m for children. The longest lift costs about € 0.33 per use, the shorter approximately € 0.17 per use. Services: Ski school, ski rental, breakfast, park toilets and free.
Other ski resorts in the area are: Korenov (7 km), Spicák (8 km), Rednic (10 km), and top ski resorts Harrachov (15 km), Rokytnice (21 km) and Spindleruv Mlyn (55 km).
Throughout the area there are numerous cross-country ski trails. The Jizerský highway
is a cross-country trail of more than 100 km with well-maintained trails, which have ties with the cross-country areas of Poland and the Giant Mountains.
A day without skiing or cross country skiing can be enjoyed fine in Liberec (20 km), a restored city, very attractive because of the specialty shops.
The shopping center of Babylon, with a sub-tropical swimming pool (, aqua park '), is known across the country.
What would be Desná without it's winter sports possibilities? Sparkling snow, winter cold, the blue silken sky, the sun shining. Then a rapid descent into the valley. Just take a real winter break: a jolly sleigh ride or the ice stock sport on a frozen lake. Her cheeks glow, heart laughs, the lungs fill up with oxygen.
After a winter sport day you fall into bed tired and looking forward to the next morning.
