The area offers plenty of variety for your holiday vacation. Enchanting scenery, beautiful old towns, historic buildings and a host of leisure activities are typical for this area. There are many ways to relax in this area active: hiking, horseback riding, water sports on one of the many rivers and reservoirs and mountain climbing. Every visitor gets here his money's worth. The area is also well suited to mountain bike rides.

The district capital of Liberec lies at the foot of the prominent Mount Ješted with a unique, modern television tower with a restaurant. Liberec is known for its beautiful botanical garden with a large collection of rhododendrons, for its' zoo, with self-bred valuable white tigers and for the unique aqua park, Babylon. Worth seeing is the old town with its famous town hall and with the beautiful half-timbered houses. Take a discovery trip! Visit also the castles Trosky and Bezdez!

The town of Jablonec nad Nisou is especially known for its traditional glass works and jewelry production, of what the glass museum confirms. The new Museum of Glass and Jewelry displays a permanent exhibition about the past and present of the glass industry in Bohemia, the jewelry manufacturing and Jablonzer fashion jewelry and cont minting. Well worth a visit is also the Belvedere Gallery at Mühlgasse. Since the city was largely built in Art Nouveau style, here you can admire the beautifully decorated Art Nouveau buildings.

Jablonec is an ideal starting point for hiking in the Giant Mountains. In the vicinity there are a variety of natural vantage points with fantastic views of both the Czechs and the Polish side of the Jizera and Giant Mountains.

Josefuv Dul is a community and a recreation center in the valley of the river Kamenice. The location was founded as a glass settlement and the glass artisan tradition still lives here. There is here a pseudo-Gothic church from the 19th Century. Above the village is situated the largest same-named water reservoir of Jizera Mountains - Josefuv Dul. A popular recreation center for sports and hiking throughout the year.

Protržená prehrada, a dam on the White River Desna, is one of the most unique places in this region, since 1919 a dam had broken and an entire city was flooded. Of these, there is still evidence. Smržovka is a more than 1 kilometer long, modern bobsled race-track. A special tourist attraction is the rack through the 7-mile passage between Tanvald and Harrachov, whereby several hundred meters height difference is bridged. Take a ride on a historic locomotive.
